“One of my challenges is when they come to my shop to find their dream dress, I do not have a large amount of choices for them to select from. All brides have a desire to try on many different styles of wedding gowns when trying to find the perfect gown. I receive constant feedback about the great experience at my shop. I am very proud of the experience I offer them. I try to make it memorable as many have been dreaming about this day since they were little. I would some day like to open a second location to build a stronger presence of my brand in other cities. Increasing my sales will allow this dream to come true. My plan is to re-invest into my business to help grow and stay competitive in the industry each season. Also, I would then have enough revenue to hire staff to service more brides. With the Kiva loan this will allow me to begin taking the steps to fulfill the dream.”

“We seek to purchase the building that we currently lease in order to become one of the only black-owned properties on the block and in greater Downtown, Baltimore as a whole. We are asking $10,000 to assist with the down payment for the loan to purchase the building. Along with the storefront location, the building houses 7 residential units that are home to both artist and entrepreneurs alike. The loan will help secure a stable space for creatives here for years to come as well as allow us the capability to offer live in work spaces for those same creatives.”

“Our goal is to create a series of after school programs at Middle Schools that once had band programs. VP&C would re-equip their band programs and assist in re-launching these programs by establishing a 30-64-piece band to be the pride of their school. It is our hopes to start an eco-system that will help to rejuvenate the High School Band Programs that our students would matriculate to while positioning students that stay in our program to the 12th Grade to gain music scholarships to Institutions of Higher Learning.”

“I started Tri-hearts in March 2019 to address the mental health, educational, and fitness needs of children in underprivileged communities. I am looking to expand, and a Kiva loan will help me balance the cost hiring effective staff $8000 (teachers, mentors), purchasing educational material $1000 (Spire reading intervention/Do the Math intervention), and payment for 12 -week swimming program (partnership) ($1000).”
