How might we center Black women as leaders in the design process to reimagine collective wellbeing, creatively and holistically?

Black Womxn Flourish: A Design for Wellbeing Collective emerged from a collaborative, creative practice, believing that when we trust in the ingenuity of Black women to create healthcare and self-care tools addressing unique challenges, we can actualize quality, holistic care experiences through which our whole selves can flourish.

Rising out of the program Design for the Wellbeing of Black Women, we focus on cultivating possibilities that are rooted in healing and design justice. Historically, healthcare interventions have been designed without centering the voices, lived experiences and creative ideas of Black women. Our response as a collective is to use design as a transformative process that uplifts Black women’s imagination and wisdom, facilitates preventative healing practices and develops sustainable, liberating strategies to define what it means for us to be well.
