Jayson Williams, Baltimore Corps Faculty

Jayson Williams is President and CEO of Mayson-Dixon Strategic Consulting. A lifelong Maryland resident, he graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and minors in Public Policy and Environmental Studies. He began his career with a Baltimore-based political consulting firm, managing local political campaigns, and on the staff of Maryland State Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller. His career has included senior level campaign work for U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski during her 2004 re-election and Congressman Ben Cardin during his successful 2006 senatorial election.

Jayson’s work has also spanned the non-profit sector where he served as the Maryland Political Director for the Laborers International Union of North America, overseeing local, state, and federal lobbying efforts as well as the organization’s public activism & business partnerships.

In 2010, he was appointed senior aide to County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, and was charged with helping him execute his vision for Prince George’s County: making the County the top economic engine in the Washington Region. Jayson was a part of the senior leadership team, helping the County Executive build his government and work on key issues like ethics reform, the $1.2 billion MGM Resort Casino, education reform, government reorganization, and the administration’s signature community improvement program called the Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative. Jayson was then appointed to the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation as Vice President for Strategic Alliances. In that role, he oversaw business relations, special projects, and private investment for the Economic Development Corporation.

In 2015, Jayson founded Mayson-Dixon Strategic Consulting, a public affairs firm, that advises for-profits, non-profits and public officials on utilizing campaign style tactics to better tell their stories to their target audiences to increase the bottom line. In its first year, the company has grown from one home office to three offices, seven full-time employees, and eighteen clients. In November 2016, Jayson was recognized as one of the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2016 class of 40 Under 40 for his growing business and public service.

Since 2009, Jayson has taught a political campaign management course as an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University in Washington D.C., and over the past 13 years he has privately advised several of his friends, colleagues, and former students in numerous successful election campaigns.
