Dawn L. Brown, Vice President

Dawn has more than 15 years of nonprofit management and consulting experience in California, New York, Washington, DC, and Virginia. She served as CEO of Girls & Gangs, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House and the McClymonds Youth & Family Center, and Director of Business Development at Child Care Aware of America. In each role, Dawn successfully launched fundraising and marketing strategies that increased company revenue, improved program efficiency, and expanded advocacy efforts for vulnerable communities.

As an advocate and strategic thought partner, Dawn has led advocacy initiatives that established best practices for eliminating gender bias within the juvenile justice system and decriminalizing sex trafficked girls, which became Los Angeles County legislation. She helped to make the Community-based Gang Intervention Project Los Angeles City legislation, advocated to end Life Without Parole for incarcerated minors, and successfully worked to end the shackling of pregnant women as a part of a Los Angeles County coalition. Dawn served on former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaragosa's Nonprofit Advisory Group, Finance Chair of the Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles Advisory Board, Training and Technical Assistance Consultant for the National Girls Institute (NGI), and a Member of the National Council on Crime and Delinquency's (NCCD) Gang Desistance Advisory Board.Additionally, Dawn has been recognized by the California Department of Education for her expertise in training educators to provide quality services to at-risk and high-risk youth.
